I think one of the most important things I’ve learned for when you’re not feeling well, especially if you’ve been chronically sick, is to never stop fighting for the possibility of solutions.
That might sound cliche but it’s actually very easy to forget.
I think this, more than anything in fact, can represent the biggest battle that dictates whether someone will prevail against a given illness.
Having long covid, getting exposed to mold and having hindered immunity as a result, getting sick again and again, sometimes when you feel that way so often, it’s easier to just relax into it and accept it as your fate.
I know my tools, I’m grateful to have learned that large part of the battle— the functional nutrients and interventions that address how the body works and support it.
Despite that, even when I put said remedies on my coffee table for instance, for quick access (because I’ve needed them there for quick access so often), I still forget. I relax into being sick (yet again).
But remembering how I’ve felt better so many times before from taking enough vitamin c, for instance, is so encouraging— despite how many times I’ve felt bad (even if it was just a couple days ago). When I’m tenacious enough just to continue taking it for a few hours until my body is saturated with it enough to support itself against whatever it is I might be fighting, I’m always surprised to feel well again.
We are empowered. Many tools are inexpensive and highly accessible. It isn’t just the case with vitamin c, but many interventions: eating an amount of fresh produce that works well with your body, or having more fiber.
We may be in a situation right now that pulls us back into sickness for whatever reason, but the tools are there, whether to use or be discovered.
whenever I’m initially feeling defeated but decide to do a little search for a solution for whatever I’m struggling with I’m never not inspired and delighted by what I find. Not only is it healing to be in that state of solution- consciousness, it’s always empowering to see that the work has been done and the question have been asked before by others who have already done the work that can now possibly help me.
Answers exist. Sometimes, the best remedy is a hopeful spirit.
